Maryland Violent Crime and Gun Crime Defense Attorney
Are you facing a weapons charge, or a criminal charge involving the use of a weapon, in Wicomico County? Would you like to speak with an "insider" who knows how the system works?
I have the knowledge you need. My name is Andrew M. MacDonald. I know how the system works because I helped create the system. As an Assistant State's Attorney for Wicomico County, I designed and implemented the Wicomico County EXILE program - geared to aggressively prosecute gun crime. The program calls for mandatory minimum sentences and no parole for persons convicted of gun crimes.
The EXILE program's motto is "Hard Time for Gun Crime" and it focuses on the illegal possession of a firearm:
- on the person
- in a vehicle
- by a minor (under 21)
The law also mandates a five-year sentence - with no chance of parole - for:
- the use of a handgun in a crime of violence
- a convicted felon in possession of a firearm
Any violent crime - attempted murder, murder, first degree assault, armed robbery, robbery, reckless endangerment - triggers the EXILE program when it involves the use of a firearm.
As for possession by a prior felon, I know which prior convictions qualify and which don't and what is necessary to prove the elements of those offenses to qualify a defendant for these tougher sentences.
I'm a member of the federal bar in the District of Maryland. I can defend you against charges brought in federal court as well as state court.
When the law imposes harsh penalties, lawyers must be doubly vigilant to make sure that the law is strictly followed and fairly applied. If there is any way that the EXILE program does not apply to you, I will find it.
Call me, Andrew M. MacDonald, today so that we can discuss your weapons possession or use charges.
